Minespider
Blockchain-enabled Digital Product Passports for total supply chain transparency.
Minespider is a leading traceability company, providing a blockchain-based platform for tracking product and supply chain data. In the RETURN project, Minespider is in charge of providing digital solutions for tracking the e-waste value and supply chains. They are using the latest technology to create Digital Product Passports (DPPs) and a Dynamic Digital Marketplace (DDM) for the e-waste sector.
In a circular economy, data is as valuable as the material itself. Minespider’s protocol creates a permanent digital record for every batch of material recovered from e-waste by the RETURN process. Within the RETURN Project this digital data carriers will contain important information for e-waste handlers, recyclers and refiners such as waste origin, composition and treatment methods used or to be used for efficient material recovery, carbon footprint and environmental data, compliance and due-diligence information and other relevant data supporting recycling operational efficiency, transparency and recycled materials provenance. This lets manufacturers purchase RETURN’s recovered metals, knowing for sure that they’re eco-friendly and traceable.
Minespider takes this a step further by creating the Dynamic Digital Marketplace (DDM). The DDM is a platform that connects the supply of high-quality recycled materials with the demand from OEMs. Minespider is making sure that the European electronics supply chain is ready for the future. They are doing this by combining compliance with the EU’s new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and Battery Regulation. This will ensure that “waste” is re-valued as a strategic resource.
